Host interns or trainees through the J-1 visitor exchange program

Studysea can help American companies and organizations that wish to recruit Danish interns or trainees. We can help you find the right candidate and apply for a J-1 visa. Our service is free of charge for host organizations.

Studysea is a Denmark-based study abroad consultancy and internship placement agency established in 2013. Our mission is to provide students a stepping stone to an international career. We do this by matching college students and newly graduates with universities, organizations and companies abroad. Through our partnership with Center for International Career Development, we are able to facilitate internships through the J-1 Visa Exchange Visitor Program. CICD is a U.S. Department of State designated J-1 visa sponsor organization. Learn how your organization can benefit from hosting an intern from Scandinavia.

Our candidates

While most of our candidates are from Denmark, we receive applications from across Europe. Most candidates will undertake an internship during the last year of their degree. Internship durations depend on program, but typically span from 3 to 8 months. Candidates study in a variety of
fields including business, marketing, sales, hospitality, finance, event planning, engineering, nursing, physio therapy, teaching, IT and bioanalytics. Most interns are sponsored by their governments and are thus not allowed to receive salary.

Our interns are well-educated and proficient in English. They come to the U.S. to gain work experience and knowledge of American culture.

Eligibility

To become a host organization, your organization must live up to Studysea’s quality criteria as well as the regulations under the J-1 Visa Exchange Visitor Program.

Interns must not displace full-, part-time, temporary, or permanent American workers, or serve to fill a labor need. The positions Interns fill exist solely to assist them in achieving the objectives listed in the Internship Placement Plan, and not as sources of labor.
